It’s a fun game to pack for long trips using nothing more than a photo backpack and a carry-on sized suitcase. If you are like Vanelli, you don’t need anything more than a stick of deodorant and a toothbrush (two things you should refuse to let him borrow). I prefer to carry a few more toiletries but TSA’s 3-1-1 restrictions limit the amount. My favorite containers are those pocket-size Purell hand sanitizer bottles. Get a box of 10 at Bed Bath and Beyond for a few bucks and refill them with everything: shampoo, conditioner, lotion, face cream, body wash, hair gel. You’d be surprised how little you need if you conserve.
